How to Look Great This Season
by Brenda Kinsel
Sometimes I think the designers stay up late at night thinking of ways to make us crazy. We just get through with one season and we're hit with what's in for the next. Trying to make sense of the trends in color, style, & accessories can almost make you wish the winter would stay around a bit longer so you don't have to think about it (well, okay, maybe it's not that bad!). While some of you shop regularly with me to make this transition more efficient (and fun!), for those of you who live too far away or just want a little extra guidance, Brenda Kinsel, a dear friend, prolific author, and wonderful image consultant on the west coast, has just come out with her new e-book "How to Look Great This Season (spring/summer '08)." And, she is offering 20% off to my readers.

The Rough Guide to Shopping with a Conscience
by Duncan Clark & Richie Unterberger
I picked it up at a bookstore in Rockport and couldn't put it down until I had read the entire thing. Tons of very useful information on everything from clothing to food to fair trade to travel, etc.

The Lingerie Handbook
by Rebecca Apsan and Sarah Stark
I recently received this book as a gift from Merit, the owner of my favorite lingerie store Night and Day Lingerie in Andover, MA. It was a very fitting (so to speak) present and one I have been reading regularly. I have always been a big believer in having beautiful as well as functional undergarments and know that many women feel totally lost when it comes to all the subtleties of lingerie. Rebecca Apsan and Sarah Stark talk about everything from how to choose the proper undergarments for a particular outfit (yes, it makes a difference), to shapewear (so much more comfortable and functional than a few years ago), to finding the proper bra size (85% of women are wearing an ill-fitting bra). This book is a fabulous guide to lingerie, and it is lovely to look at as well.

Healthy at 100
by John Robbins
I love this book! In this revolutionary book, bestselling author John Robbins presents us with a bold new paradigm of aging, showing us how we can increase not only our lifespan but also our health span. Through the example of four very different cultures that have the distinction of producing some of the world’s healthiest, oldest people, Robbins reveals the secrets for living an extended and fulfilling life in which our later years become a period of wisdom, vitality, and happiness. From Abkhasia in the Caucasus south of Russia, where age is beauty, and Vilcabamba in the Andes of South America, where laughter is the greatest medicine, to Hunza in Central Asia, where dance is ageless, and finally the southern Japanese islands of Okinawa, the modern Shangri-la, where people regularly live beyond a century, Robbins examines how the unique lifestyles of these peoples can influence and improve our own.

Breakthrough Astrology: Transform Yourself And Your World
by Joyce Levine
Joyce Levine has a gift -- she has done some very insightful astrology readings for me, so I am well aware of what she can do. Her book offers valuable information and, as Christiane Northrup says about it: "In this groundbreaking book, Joyce Levine offers the gift of self-understanding through the lens of astrology. Learn how your love life can be vastly improved by knowing your Venus placement, how your Mars sign drives your career choices and working life, and how you can mark your moods by the Moon. Levine offers a comprehensive overview and then gets down to the nitty-gritty information we all need to begin building on their strengths and weaknesses."

A New Earth: Awakening to your life’s purpose
by Eckhardt Tolle
I can’t put this book down! In A New Earth, Tolle shows us how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world. Tolle describes how our attachment to the ego creates the dysfunction that leads to anger, jealousy, and unhappiness, and shows readers how to awaken to a new state of consciousness and follow the path to a truly fulfilling existence.

Women & Money: A practical guide to estate planning
by Patricia Annino
This book is an easy read with great information, especially for those of us who put these things off. Too often, women ignore the state of their financial affairs and/or depend on others in their lives to keep them in order. It is only too late that they (or their dependents) realize the significance of having their affairs in order not only in case of untimely death, but with increasing life spans and advances in medical care, in case of incapacity from illness or dementia. Patricia Annino, with 20 plus years of experience in estate planning, offers a book that explains, step by step and across many different living situations, why being prepared is necessary and how to determine your specific wants and needs in order to plan appropriately.

Interior Divine: Walking You Through the Transformation of Your Home
by Jayne Pelosi
I have known Jayne for years and have always marveled at her talent! I highly recommend her book. Interior Divine: Walking You Through the Transformation of Your Home brings a fresh and novel approach to interior decorating. It identifies simple, stunning ways to improve your home, and thus enhance your life. Step-by-step, author Jayne Pelosi helps readers overcome the chronic areas where people get stuck in the design process, such as how to become inspired to decorate, how to select coordinating fabrics, or how to decide where to put color in a space. It is written in a practical and straightforward style laced with humor and a warm spiritual perspective. You’ll feel like you’re talking to a dear friend, or better yet, a Design Coach!

If the Buddha Came to Dinner:
How to Nourish Your Body to Awaken Your Spirit

by Halé Sofia Schatz (Author), Shira Shaiman

"I have had the pleasure of working personally with Hale for 8 years. I can honestly say that her approach to food, the emotional component of eating, and her gentle, spiritual approach to preparing food has changed my life. When I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease I believe she saved my life. I can't recommend her book highly enough. Here's what it's about..."Many people don't realize that the simple daily act of eating can be a profound catalyst for spiritual growth, from experiencing a renewed sense of vitality to living a richer and more satisfying life. That's because each time we eat we have the opportunity to pay attention, care for ourselves, and feed the real source of our hunger: our spirit. Nourishment isn't a fad diet but a lifelong journey, and Hale Sofia Schatz is the ideal guide. Gentle, wise, and humorous, she shows us how to feed our Buddha within. A perfect blend of inspirational guidance and practical suggestions, If the Buddha Came to Dinner includes guidelines for selecting vital foods, tips for keeping your energy balanced throughout the day, a cleansing program, and recipes to awaken your palate." —Ginger Burr
The Mind-Body Makeover Project: A 12-Week Plan for Transforming Your Body and Your Life
by Michael Gerrish

I am very excited to announce that my work (style and makeup) is featured in a new book. It's called "The Mind-Body Makeover Project" and was written by Michael Gerrish (some of you might be familiar with his first book "When Working Out Isn't Working Out"). You can read more about the book, a first of its kind, below.

I was involved in the final stages of the book after the participants had worked with Michael for 12 weeks (there are some awesome results!). With the exception of one of the male participants, I took each person shopping for a wardrobe to fit his or her new body and new look. I also did everyone's makeup for the final photo shoot. I can truly say that I was incredibly impressed with how effective Michael's program is and, I've seen two of the participants now 8 months later and they both still look fabulous! It really works.

by Rebecca J. Hulem
"Rebecca's on to something here! Most of the women I talk to and work with are dreading menopause and are confused by the options available.
