Why settle for okay when you can look fabulous everyday? This is the question many women ask themselves and the answer always comes back…because I don't know how, don't have time or am overwhelmed every time I walk into a store. It doesn't help that most of the fashion industry is focused on trends that work for (or appeal to) a tiny percentage of women, and the rest of us get left behind, right? Well, not any more!
If you want to dress with passion and purpose, this workshop is for you. If you're a woman who feels stuck in a fashion rut, out of date, frumpy, or just bored every morning when you look in your closet, this workshop brings you a world of change:
- Have way too many clothes in your closet you don't wear? Learn why you don't wear them so you avoid wasting your money on those kinds of purchases again.
- Take the guesswork out of knowing what to wear by learning how to use color, style, design, accents, details, patterns, and fabrics as they relate to your personal uniqueness.
- Feel growing confidence in choosing clothes that reflect your inner beauty/radiance/charisma as you put the tools you learn into practice.
- Never again feel bored when you get dressed by using the three key components that take any outfit from dull to dynamic.
- Feel empowered each time you stare into your closet when you use "your words" to help you select an outfit.
- Receive valuable and affirming insights from others helping you acknowledge how amazing you are and, as important, realize no one else sees your self-perceived flaws!
- Never again feel you have to settle for purchasing a functional piece of clothing unless it also speaks to who you are!
"The workshop was fascinating. I can see why you love what you do. The insight gained by each person is almost magical!"—Nancy Mirtle
Ready for the "Totally You" adventure? Here's how it unfolds:
Morning: Find Your Own "Totally You" Internal Beauty Guide
The most important truth is that it is hard to know how to dress if you don’t know who you are dressing. You might be a great mom, a terrific businesswoman, or an accomplished skater, dancer, mountain climber, etc. But apart from that, what makes you you? In the first 3-1/2 hour "Totally You" workshop we get to the heart of that.
Most women have a sense of who they are somewhere inside themselves, but they often find it difficult to express fully. Over the past 20 years of helping women get dressed, I have learned that many women can quickly tell you what they don’t like about themselves in great detail but when it comes to recognizing the parts that make them special, unique, and beautiful, words elude them. If any of this sounds familiar, then this morning session will be a real eye-opener for you:
- Your wardrobe looks more like your mother, best friend or the sales woman at your favorite store than you!
- You keep buying the same things over and over because you are unsure how to take the first step to explore something new (you’d rather be safe than sorry!).
- You are unsure as to what your “style” is and need some guidance and guidelines to help you sort through all the overwhelming choices in the stores.
- You keep making the same mistakes and don’t know why they don’t work for you.
Step #1 is identifying your internal beauty guide, and it is a fun, eye-opening experience. Don’t worry! There are no fancy rules to learn, no measurements taken, no critiques involved. It’s easy, non-judgmental, and you will come away with 4 descriptive words that are powerful beyond belief and that help you begin to create a personal style that reflects the true you!
Afternoon: Aligning Your Inner & Outer Beauty
If it isn't totally you, it's totally out!
Once you have identified your internal beauty guide (those are the 4 words you got in the original "Aligning Your Inner & Outer Beauty" workshop), you put what you learned into practice. The second "Totally You" group workshop is about making sure that all your wardrobe, hair, and makeup choices express the real you. Learn to take your look from common to captivating, routine to radiant or mundane to magnificent. The possibilities are endless—enchanting and genuine because the new look encompasses your most wonderful traits.
"What I got out of the seminars has been totally unexpected! With my words (brightly spirited), I felt relieved of the burden to be a social butterfly. And with the critique of outfits, I felt much better about my body – instantly. Everyone always wants what they don't have, and I am really going to stop trying to hide my bustline, or consider it such a huge defect. Those were two nice surprise lessons for me. Thank you!"—Donna Jacobites
When you open your closet to get dressed, you will no longer put something on and think, "I know this has seen better days but it is so comfy," or "It's not my favorite but my husband will love this," or "It's the best I can do right now" as you head off in a million different directions.
In this interactive group session, we look at how to:
- Know when something works for you: what to look for (and what to avoid) in colors, styles and designs.
- Explore looks you like, that you dream of wearing, and then be able to translate them into reality.
- Work with outfits in your existing wardrobe that frustrate you or feel incomplete and then transform them into beautiful expressions of you (or wave goodbye).
- Be prepared for any occasion by understanding how to interpret various styles: natural, polished, sexy, powerful, whimsical, comfortable, etc. to fit your personality.
- Be a smart shopper and never again be at the mercy of salespeople wondering "Should I buy it or shouldn't I?" You'll know!
- Explore putting the finishing touches on an outfit to express your personality with pizzazz.
Bring with you:
- Five or more outfits (including shoes and accessories).
• They can be for work, leisure casual, fun social, dressy, etc. A range is good. (Hint: It is always better to bring too much than not enough.)
• Bring outfits that have some component that you like but that don't feel complete or even outfits that you are totally frustrated by. (If you do not have complete outfits, bring lots of separates.)
• Don't let this part scare you or keep you from attending. There's no judgment here. We have fun with it!
- Catalogues from stores that you like or magazines with pictures of clothes/styles you like.
- Color palette if you have one.
Dressing the Totally New You 2 Hours of Private Consulting with Ginger
TIME & DATE: If you choose to add this, it will be scheduled privately at a mutually convenient date and time
This is your opportunity to put it all together! You have my full attention for two hours to be used for any of my services that would be most helpful to you. The more we work together on this, the more comfortable you feel making wardrobe and image choices every day. We can:
- Go through your closet and look at your existing wardrobe to identify what is totally you and what isn't.
- Shop together to explore looks that are totally you. (We choose the store(s) based on your wardrobe needs, personality, style, and budget.)
No matter how you choose to use your two-hours of consulting time, you will:
- Learn how to make shopping fun and rewarding by knowing how to focus your attention when you enter a store.
- Find out whether you should be buying a wrap dress, animal print belt, smock top or whatever the current trend is?
- Receive an objective, supportive viewpoint as you explore new styles, colors, patterns, etc. so you feel less intimidated and more confident about which clothing to add to your wardrobe.
- Begin to move out of a fashion rut if you've been in one. Now is the time to entice your personality out of hiding and use what you have learned to create a more original wardrobe that you love.
- Learn what to do when you are shopping by yourself and you get stumped. Should you buy it? Should you not? If you paired it with something else might it work? Understand when to take a chance and when to let it go.
Why settle for okay when you can look fabulous everyday? This program provides a step-by-step process to achieve a look that aligns your inner and outer beauty! Why settle for anything less than "Totally You" the next time you get dressed! Sign up for "Totally You" today!

Fashion Fairy Godmother Retreat
- WHEN:
Saturday & Sunday, May 1 & 2
- WHERE:
Historic Hawthorne Hotel, Salem, MA
- CONTACT:
617-625-5225
Can you imagine what it would feel like to have your very own Fashion Fairy Godmother for an entire weekend? What kind of amazing transformations are possible with her personal guidance, support, encouragement, and expert advice?
No need to wonder anymore! You can find out for yourself on May 1 and 2, 2010 at the first ever Fashion Fairy Godmother Retreat at the historic Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, MA.
This program is perfect for you if your wardrobe/personal image is:
- Out of control
- Stuck in a rut
- Non-existent
Two very action-packed days are planned. During that time you will learn:
- The top 3 most important components (missing from many women’s wardrobes!) required to create a look you love and that works. (Imagine having a checklist to help you create an outfit that tells you when something works and when it needs a little fine-tuning.)
- How to align your inner and outer beauty (This is a hugely powerful exercise and a critical part of creating a personal style. In fact, it puts the “personal” in personal style!) If you ever feel like your wardrobe belongs in your mom’s, best friends, or co-worker’s closet rather than yours, then this exercise will change all that. You will learn how and why to say no to something that isn’t YOU so your wardrobe feels like an extension of who you are and not like some stranger you never met!
- When to let go of an outfit. So many women hang onto a garment for way too long because they figure there has to be a way to make it work but they just don’t know what it is. Wouldn’t it be so freeing to understand why something will or won’t so you can finally get rid of it or wear it with confidence?
- How to apply the “Art of Distraction” – Learn how to draw the eye away from a part of your body you would rather ignore and redirect the focus to a body part you appreciate.
- How to create good body balance and proportion. Sometimes even the frumpiest outfit has huge potential (and, sometimes it doesn’t!). Knowing how to balance YOUR body will give you invaluable information and help you make choices that work for you. – you’ll be surprised at how eye-opening this can be!
- Learn how to incorporate the K.I.S.S. style of dressing into your wardrobe for ease of dressing. Your wardrobe does not have to be complicated and overwhelming. Learn how to mix and match like a pro!
- Create a daily uniform that makes you smile. The #1 reason women come to me is that they just don’t know how to create a look they love for their basic every day, out and about wardrobe. We’ll look at how to take a wardrobe from t-shirts and jeans (or your equivalent) to something equally comfortable but immeasurably more stylish!
- The art of accessorizing – let’s talk jewelry, scarves, shoes, handbags… these are key components of a beautiful wardrobe. How do you incorporate them so they reflect your inner beauty, your lifestyle, your body shape, and your budget! We will have access to amazing jewelry and scarves – wait until you see this!
- Plan to bring several outfits with you that you want to work on (not your most favorites (although one of those doesn’t hurt!)) but things that you have questions about. This is THE time to get YOUR questions addressed in person and in a helpful, gentle and kind way.
This is the first time I have ever offered a two-day intensive workshop like this, and the possibilities are endless. You will learn enough to change your wardrobe and personal style forever!
Special Bonus: Receive a copy of my coveted “Fashion Fairy Godmother Resource List.” I have compiled all my very favorite resources into one place. I have never done this before, and only the women who attend the Fashion Fairy Godmother retreat will receive this.
This special weekend is limited to 16 women, and there are only 9 spaces left!
From now until the end of March or the workshop is filled – whichever comes first -- I am offering a special price of $547*.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Click here to reserve your spot now!
With beauty, style & grace,
Ginger (a.k.a., Your Fashion Fairy Godmother)
*This price includes lunch each day – please let me know when you register (or at least a week before the event) if you have any special dietary needs.

Jewelry 101: The Darling of Accessories!
Presented by: Ginger Burr & Karen Halaby
What's in your jewelry case? Better yet, do you even have a jewelry case or is your jewelry haphazardly tossed in a drawer (but that's another seminar!)? Many women have a handful of exquisite fine jewelry (usually given to them as gifts) and a collection of baubles and beads they've amassed over the years. They wear about 1/6 of what they have, at best, and are bewildered when it comes to using their jewelry to create an image and express a mood or fit an occasion.
There are few image tools more powerful and expressive than well chosen jewelry. Building an image is all about personal expression. Jewelry offers you the benefit of being considerably less expensive than purchasing a completely new outfit, and it certainly takes up a lot less space! As my mom always says, "Good things come in small packages!" (she's petite). No truer words were spoken when it comes to jewelry and its impact. It can take your look from elegant to professional to dynamic to enchanting to sassy to sophisticated to earthy to radiant… in a matter of seconds! The dilemma remains: how do you do it?
This 1 to 1-1/2 hour seminar will address the following:
- What's the best length necklace for you?
- How large or small should your jewelry be?
- Can you wear geometric shapes or are rounded designs better?
- How much jewelry can you wear at one time?
- Is silver. gold, crystals, semi precious stones, pearls or beads best for you?
- How do you choose the appropriate style for your personaliy and a particular outfit?
- What are the hot styles for the season?
Please bring clothing with you you'd like help accessorizing. This is a very visual, hands-on seminar. Seeing is believing! You are welcome to stay after the seminar and shop at Jewelry by Karel (no purchase is required to attend the workshop). I'll be there to help you try on the latest fashions in jewelry and make great choices.
Remember a day without jewelry is like a night without stars!
The seminar is limited to 8 (with a minimum of 4).
CANCELLATION POLICY:
Because there is a minimum number required to hold this seminar, there will be a cancellation policy. A full refund will be offered to those who cancel no less than one week before the seminar date. After that date, no refund will be offered unless your space can be filled with another participant (in which case you will receive a full refund) or I do not receive at least 4 registrants in which case everyone who registered will, of course, receive a refund.
PLEASE NOTE: Upon registration, directions will be emailed to you if needed.

The first 3 people who register and attend will receive a copy of the book "Scarf Tying Magic" as a gift:
How many scarves do you own? If you are like many women you have been collecting them for years, and you have them in all shapes and sizes. Now…for the $65,000 question…how many of them do you actually wear? In my experience, 90% of women own scarves, but only a few actually wear them. Some openly acknowledge that they are not "scarf people" (having acquired most of theirs as gifts), but many women are intrigued by the idea of wearing scarves if they only knew how. If that's you, then you're in luck!
Scarves are HOT this season and are a delightful addition to your wardrobe for esthetic, creative, and practical (warmth) purposes.
Join me for the first of its kind scarf workshop:
- Bring your scarves with you (as many as you'd like)
- We'll determine if the color, size, style and pattern work for you
- Learn 4 or 5 beautiful ways to tie your scarves so you can start wearing them now.
This could also be a great opportunity for a "scarf swap!" You never know!

Everyone who attends will receive a makeup gift- value $15 (no purchase necessary to attend the seminar)
Three complaints I hear regularly from women when it comes to makeup are:
- I'm bored. I've been wearing the same makeup or applying it in the same way for years. I need a change but don't want to look trashy or silly. What can I do?
- I have a drawer full of makeup I never wear. I've collected free samples, bought things at a cosmetic counter and never understood how to use them correctly, or I've picked up things at the drugstore in desperation. I'm overwhelmed. What can I use and what should I throw away?
- I'm confused by the makeup trends. The magazines encourage me to buy the latest and trendiest look. I feel paralyzed by indecision. How much trendiness is enough? How much is too much? What actually looks good on me?
In this seminar, using participant volunteers to demonstrate a technique, learn to:
- Conceal dark circles, blemishes, sun spots and more
- Line your eyes easily and effortlessly and look natural!
- How to choose flattering trends and colors for the season
- Make boring a thing of the past: 3 overlooked steps that can take your makeup from good to great
and more...
Over the past couple of months I have added lots of great new makeup. Be the first to see and experience it. We'll cover as much as we can in the 1-1/2 hours. Come with questions. There's lots we can cover - including demonstrations of various types of foundations (learn what works best for what types of skin and differing levels of coverage and wearability), blushes (cream vs powder), eyeshadow placement, defining your eyebrows (to do or not to do), lining your lips (yes or no?), etc. The seminar is limited to 10 (with a minimum of 4).

I love fashion. I love food. I love animals. I know from your questions that many of you are exploring various aspects of compassionate living and need help. I understand, first hand, that it is not always easy in our world. The good news is that it is very doable and getting easier every day, and the payoff is great!
Being a vegan is about much more than what you put in your mouth. It’s about understanding that the choices we make, even in what we wear, have far reaching implications for animals. Our wool coat bears no resemblance to the animals it came from and neither does the cashmere sweater or the leather shoes. These items are so common that few people question their origin.
That’s where this teleclass comes in. Let’s explore the following:
- What’s wrong with wearing wool? Aren’t the sheep just sheared occasionally and that’s it?
- What about leather? It’s a natural product and I don’t want to wear plastic shoes!
- How about the environmental impact of vegan (and animal) fabrics and concerns about biodegradability and harmful chemical residues?
- Why won’t vegans wear silk?
- Redefining “fine fabrics.”
- Isn’t it expensive and difficult to find vegan clothes?
- Where do you find vegan shoes, handbags, and beautiful clothing options?
Please note that the teleclasses will be recorded and the recording will be available to download on my website.
Thank you! I am looking forward to this!
