The Lingerie Handbook
by Rebecca Apsan and Sarah Stark

I recently received this book as a gift from Merit, the owner of my favorite lingerie store Night and Day Lingerie in Andover, MA. It was a very fitting (so to speak) present and one I have been reading regularly. I have always been a big believer in having beautiful as well as functional undergarments and know that many women feel totally lost when it comes to all the subtleties of lingerie. Rebecca Apsan and Sarah Stark talk about everything from how to choose the proper undergarments for a particular outfit (yes, it makes a difference), to shapewear (so much more comfortable and functional than a few years ago), to finding the proper bra size (85% of women are wearing an ill-fitting bra). This book is a fabulous guide to lingerie, and it is lovely to look at as well.
Plus Style
by Suzan Nanfeldt

Practical, personal and easy to use, Plus Style is an indispensible guide to looking and feeling great for the millions of plus-size women who now demand fashion as well as fit. Suzan Nanfeldt is a leading consultant on plus-size fashions. With an informative blend of upbeat text and attractive illustrations, she highlights the basic body types and shows how to turn well-chosen clothes into a signature style using color and accessories.
The Rough Guide to Shopping with a Conscience
by Duncan Clark & Richie Unterberger

I picked it up at a bookstore in Rockport and couldn't put it down until I had read the entire thing. Tons of very useful information on everything from clothing to food to fair trade to travel, etc.

If the Buddha Came to Dinner
by Halé Sofia Schatz (Author), Shira Shaiman

"I have had the pleasure of working personally with Hale for 8 years. I can honestly say that her approach to food, the emotional component of eating, and her gentle, spiritual approach to preparing food has changed my life. When I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease I believe she saved my life. I can't recommend her book highly enough. Here's what it's about..."Many people don't realize that the simple daily act of eating can be a profound catalyst for spiritual growth, from experiencing a renewed sense of vitality to living a richer and more satisfying life. That's because each time we eat we have the opportunity to pay attention, care for ourselves, and feed the real source of our hunger: our spirit. Nourishment isn't a fad diet but a lifelong journey, and Hale Sofia Schatz is the ideal guide. Gentle, wise, and humorous, she shows us how to feed our Buddha within. A perfect blend of inspirational guidance and practical suggestions, If the Buddha Came to Dinner includes guidelines for selecting vital foods, tips for keeping your energy balanced throughout the day, a cleansing program, and recipes to awaken your palate." —Ginger Burr
The Mind-Body Makeover Project
by Michael Gerrish

I am very excited to announce that my work (style and makeup) is featured in a new book. It's called "The Mind-Body Makeover Project" and was written by Michael Gerrish (some of you might be familiar with his first book "When Working Out Isn't Working Out"). You can read more about the book, a first of its kind, below.

I was involved in the final stages of the book after the participants had worked with Michael for 12 weeks (there are some awesome results!). With the exception of one of the male participants, I took each person shopping for a wardrobe to fit his or her new body and new look. I also did everyone's makeup for the final photo shoot. I can truly say that I was incredibly impressed with how effective Michael's program is and, I've seen two of the participants now 8 months later and they both still look fabulous! It really works.
The China Study
by T. Colin Campbell

This book has changed my life dramatically. The research is amazing and the health implications astonishing.
Healthy at 100:
by John Robbins

I love this book! In this revolutionary book, bestselling author John Robbins presents us with a bold new paradigm of aging, showing us how we can increase not only our lifespan but also our health span. Through the example of four very different cultures that have the distinction of producing some of the world’s healthiest, oldest people, Robbins reveals the secrets for living an extended and fulfilling life in which our later years become a period of wisdom, vitality, and happiness. From Abkhasia in the Caucasus south of Russia, where age is beauty, and Vilcabamba in the Andes of South America, where laughter is the greatest medicine, to Hunza in Central Asia, where dance is ageless, and finally the southern Japanese islands of Okinawa, the modern Shangri-la, where people regularly live beyond a century, Robbins examines how the unique lifestyles of these peoples can influence and improve our own.

Women & Money:
by Patricia Annino

This book is an easy read with great information, especially for those of us who put these things off. Too often, women ignore the state of their financial affairs and/or depend on others in their lives to keep them in order. It is only too late that they (or their dependents) realize the significance of having their affairs in order not only in case of untimely death, but with increasing life spans and advances in medical care, in case of incapacity from illness or dementia. Patricia Annino, with 20 plus years of experience in estate planning, offers a book that explains, step by step and across many different living situations, why being prepared is necessary and how to determine your specific wants and needs in order to plan appropriately.

It identifies simple, stunning ways to improve your home, and thus enhance your life. Step-by-step, author Jayne Pelosi helps readers overcome the chronic areas where people get stuck in the design process, such as how to become inspired to decorate, how to select coordinating fabrics, or how to decide where to put color in a space. It is written in a practical and straightforward style laced with humor and a warm spiritual perspective. You’ll feel like you’re talking to a dear friend, or better yet, a Design Coach!

This book is absolutely delicious. In our hearts I think each one of us wants to live a charmed life but sometimes "life" gets in the way. I love that Victoria reminds us to pay attention, make changes, honor beauty, love well, and embrace your imperfections... I plan to read it over and over as life gets hectic. With topics like "Follow Your Heart," "Retire Your Too-Too," "Age Exquisitely," and "Razzle-Dazzle On Occasion" her insights are sweet, doable and great reminders that life is meant to be wonderful. The subtitle says it all "Sensible, Spiritual Secrets Every Busy Woman Should Know." Give yourself a wonderful treat and keep this book on your bedside table.

It sends a message to the business community and saves the needless suffering of many animals.

Vegan Soups and Hearty Stews for All Season:
by Nava Atlas

Want delicious, satisfying meals? This is a great book for those cozy days!

World Peace Diet:
by Will Tuttle

This book goes way beyond the horrors of raising animals for food and addresses the philosophical question of why we eat meat so unconsciously. Will Tuttle looks at tradition and our cultural roots, at how we inherit our food choices often without question. He looks at the domination of the feminine and who profits from our choices. It is a powerful and thought-provoking book that anyone considering becoming a vegan will want to read.

Why Animals Matter:
by Erin Williams and Margo DeMello

Animal experts Williams (who works for the Humane Society) and DeMello (Stories Rabbits Tell) deliver an excellent look at cruelty to animals on an institutional level in various industries, taking a "common sense perspective" and revealing many disturbing facts that could turn the most ardent meat eater into a hard-core vegetarian. This is a tough but fair-minded revelation of how mass production of animals for food and other purposes results in cruelty that usually remains hidden from sight.

Slaughterhouse:
by Gail A. Eisnitz

This book is just what it says, an inside look at what happens in slaughterhouses. Basically, if you are going to eat meat, you should know how it got to your plate. Not easy reading but important!

The Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook:
by Jo Stepaniak

My new favorite cookbook. The recipes are totally delicious and easy. My favorites: the frittata (both versions), the gooey grilled cheez and the mediterranean quinoa salad.

On Their Own Terms
by Lee Hall

This book is a must-read for anyone who is vegan or is an animal rights proponent considering going vegan. Taking a stand for animals and the environment by becoming vegan is critical and no one explains that better than Lee. On Their Own Terms is an invitation to a movement that can ensure the triumph of animals natural freedom and power, and a practical handbook for the advocate who takes up the challenge. It asks us to imagine and appreciate the dignity of free communities of animals thriving in their habitats.

by Joanne Stepaniak

Increasing numbers of people--including actress Drew Barrymore, pop star Moby, and actor Alec Baldwin--are embracing veganism, a lifestyle that entails avoiding all animal-based products and behaving ethically and conscientiously within our surroundings. In The Vegan Sourcebook, long-time activist Joanne Stepaniak further explores and illuminates the principles and practical aspects of compassionate living. A very handy book for someone just starting out who has lots of questions.
